Made me scratch my head...

I buy things to save me time or make me more money. When I read this I quickly felt this guy had my number (pardon the cold calling pun). I don't get all emotional about someone telling me what I am doing wrong so I was able to see my behavior in some of these examples and make some corrections. Some of it made me laugh out loud. I don't really like cold calling but I like it much more when I make money and this quick read is helping me do that. I gave it 5 stars for the obvious experience this guy has and for not wasting my time with fluff! I hate fluff and pretenders! This guy has dialed, I can tell.

The absurdly low price made me scratch my head then I figured out that anybody with a selling problem was probably beating a path to this guys site to hire him for some consulting gig. Clever guy.

A very straight to the point book. I have done some cold calling in the past and I must say I fell under all the reasons he listed why cold calling does not work. All of them. The e book completely reshapes your thinking about the art of cold calling. I liked his references to the 'Gatekeeper' as that is who will answer the phone most of the time. Yes, make him or her your ally! A great read.

Was a very quick read with good insights. Too often we just jump into something new with no clear cut plan. We just follow the old adage "throw enough mud up on the wall some will stick" . This shows you why that really isn't the best way to get where you want to go.

Though this is a text book for therapists, In Quest of the Mythical Mate is easy to read and offers powerful strategies for couples. If your communication is stuck in negative patterns, following the models offered in this book will help. In particular, the fair-fighting guidelines are useful. These are not prescribed by the book, but agreed upon between the parties, suited to the unique circumstances and needs in each relationship. There is also a structure for communicating difficult issues which can be very useful in disarming potential conflict. My partner and I found it very useful in improving our communication and our understanding of each other.

He engages these critical issues through a case study of the 2009 Iranian presidential election protests, looking at both US legacy media coverage of the protests as well as activists’ use of social media. Through qualitative analysis of a corpus of activists’ Twitter tweets and Flickr uploads, Featherman argues that activists’ social media discourses and protesters’ symbolic and tactical borrowing of global English contribute to micronarratives of globalization, while also calling into question master narratives about Iran commonly found in mainstream Western media accounts. This volume makes a timely contribution to discussions regarding the relationship between cyber-rhetoric and democracy, and provides new directions for researchers engaging with the influence of new media on globalized vernaculars of English.

Poor examples explanation

I am not an expert in this field but what I learn are just some simple concepts. It takes some pages on the bluetooth SOC design
example with fractional C code. There is no structure about the examples and its hard to understand what the authors will explain(actually, I just feel ??what??)

A first attempt at digital system on a chip verification book.

I was excited to find this book because of these quotations from the book's back cover:

"[fully covers] system on a chip," "Bluetooth because it addresses reality," "comprehensive guide to overall SOC verification," and

"authors... leave no stone unturned in this comprehensive overview of [chip verification] tools and methodologies."

"Analog engineers have been using [SPICE] for analog simulation for over 30 years..."

Given the above comments, I had hoped that it had some analog verification info. It turns out to have no significant coverage of analog. It claims to, as in DAC verification, but the verification of the trivial DAC is virtually analog-less. And even the digital system on a chip verification coverage seems rushed.

I am an analog chip designer with 24 years experience, a good part of that time spent verifying my analog and mixed-signal designs. This book has a single 24 page chapter on analog, "Analog/Mixed-Signal Simulation," which taught me nothing. The chapter lists and defines the standard specialized nomenclature of the analog verification software, gives an example simple VerilogA behavioral model for a crude resistor-transresistor DAC, and gives a crude behavioral test example. I think that most all stones are left unturned for analog or mixed-signal chip verification. The authors mention SPICE, spectre, and Cadence Analog Design Environment only. I just finished a 37000 transistor analog & mixed-signal chip verification, and this book mentioned none of the tools and methods that I used, which included Mentor's Modeltech Modelsim and Synopsys's Saber, digital and analog coupled together. The examples are of value in giving existing digital chip verification experts an example of how to get started with a crude VerilogA behavioural modeling of analog blocks to be fit into a digital chip verification flow.

I thank the authors for their book in this area with little publisher coverage.

Fine reference source

Martin Colloms has written the definitive survey of loudspeaker design principles. Negative reviewers here on Amazon fault the book's math, but such criticisms are ridiculous. Colloms is a respected author, writing under the imprint of a distinguished technical publisher and, while an error can always sneak through, the book has meticulous citation and editing. If there is any flaw, it is that the subject matter is so wide ranging that individual topics suffer from a compressed treatment. This is not a book about how to build speakers, nor is it an introductory work. It is a reference source, and a very good one at that. Well worth the finding on the used market.

This book has been called `the best book on loudspeakers ever written', and it is certainly very good. It is mainly focussed on the professional loudspeaker designer, less on the HiFi enthousiast or the DIY loudspeaker builder. Unfortunately, the quality of several figures is very bad. It seems these are mediocre scans from older editions of the book.

incoherent, poor structure, assumes far too much

I agree entirely that this book is flawed.

On face value, it seems that the book is wonderfully comprehensive and covers most you would like to know.

Delve deeper, attempt to read it and its incoherent, illogical, and plain poorly written.

Equations are given without adequate explanations of parameters, where the equations come from, there is little logical structure and its impossible to gain an appreciation of the big picture.

Anyone wishing to understand speakers will come away more confused and wonder where it all fits in, why dispersion is relevant, directivity, its just not explained, little about what the impedance curve means, next to nothing about phase.

I have read colloms' reviews of equipment and he is plain boring using flowery words to impress, fortunately this book is not like that, but it is not the book to get to find what you seek.

I don't know any that are yet, thiele isn't explained, in fact the whole lot simply isn't logical.

don't bother with this unless its very cheap.
