About the Author
Dr. Anang Modi grew up in East Rutherford, NJ. He went to a seven year accelerated B.S./ D.O. program at NYIT/NYCOM and graduated with honors and scoring in the top 10% decile on his boards. He was a presidential scholar. He went on to do his Internal Medicine residency at Winthrop University Hospital where he received awards for intern of the year as well as awards for most outstanding 2nd and 3rd year resident. He then continued to do a Rheumatology fellowship at Winthrop University hospital and also scored in the top tenth decile on his Rheumatology boards. Dr Modi has also published numerous abstracts and papers on Sjogren's syndrome. He also is co-founder and professor of "Ultimate IM Board Review Course". He is now the Chief of Rheumatology at Queens Long Island Medical Group. He has a strong passion for medicine and loves to teach doctors, residents and medical students. He also loves to travel, play tennis, watch football and baseball, read and swim. Most of all he loves to spend time with his beautiful family.

About the Author
Arthur J. Keown is the R. B. Pamplin Professor of Finance at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, his MBA from the University of Michigan, and his doctorate from Indiana University. An award-winning teacher, he is a member of the Academy of Teaching Excellence at Virginia Tech, he has received five Certificates of Teaching Excellence, the W. E. Wine Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Alumni Teaching Excellence Award, and in 1999 he received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the State of Virginia. Professor Keown is widely published in academic journals. His work has appeared in Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, Journal of Portfolio Management, and many others. Two of his books are widely used in college finance classes all over the country — Financial Management and Foundations of Finance: The Logic and Practice of Financial Management. Professor Keown is a Fellow of Decision Sciences Institute and served as Department Head for twelve years. In addition, he has served as the co-editor of both the Journal of Financial Research and the Financial Management Association’s Survey and Synthesis Series. He was recently inducted into Ohio Wesleyan’s Athletic Hall of Fame for wrestling. His daughter and son are both married and live in Madison, Wisconsin, and Denver, Colorado, while he and his wife live in Blacksburg, Virginia, where he collects original art from Mad magazine.

Variety of Opinions

This is a challenging read. There are several authors lending their insights into specific movies that Hitch made throughout his career. Deutelbaum & Paogue tie them together well. If you are looking for a book more about the filmmaker himself, then try Patrick McGilligan's book, "Alfred Hitchcock: A Life in Darkness and Light." It is an exhaustive book, but an easier read. And, it covers the same films. The articles in D&P are more analytical of each movie. This book does not cover every movie Hitch made, but does include the more popular ones.

Be Careful Which Version You Buy!

Dr. Seuss' original book is a wonderful, rhythmic book. That book is suggested for children four to eight years old. It is NOT the same as the Bright and Early Board Book which will pull the same reviews here on Amazon.com as the original book!
The board book is an abridged version of the Dr. Seuss favorite. It is not a bad book (my son has fun with the board book which he received as a gift and likes to hear grandma make the sounds Mr. Brown makes). However, it is in no way as detailed as the original (no gum-chewing hippo for example) and the rhythm doesn't quite "work" in some places ("...He can sound like a bee. Mr Brown can buzz. How about you? Can you buzz? ...").
If I could separate my reviews I would give the Bright and Early Board book Two Stars and the Dr. Seuss original Four Stars. Perhaps if I didn't know that the board book was abridged I'd give it a higher score, but if you wish to make the better purchase, I'd suggest you go with the original.

Terrific First Book for parents and baby!

This book is a Seuss classic and is perfect for babies as young as 4 months. The sounds are funny and you can interact with your child who will be fascinated by the noises you make when reading the story. Since the first words for many children are animal sounds, this book helps promote early speech. It makes a wonderful gift and is small enough that your child can "read" it him/herself. Highly recommended!

Great For Infants

I highly recommend this book. I have been reading it to my daughter since she was four months old and she loves it. The sounds and noises fascinate her and she never takes her eyes off the pages every time I read it to her. This is one of the few books that has kept her attention repeatedly. We read it several times a day. It's one of Dr. Seuss's best!

You gotta be kidding me, same old basic crap S+R, trend line breaks and bounces, mtf analysis wow, glad i borrowed it for free, even though, i feel cheated, it took 2o min of my time to even read this trite novice exercise in selling ebooks, dont waste your time

Exellent, I use it to anticipate the big moves are likely to happen.

Great book, worth multiples of the price. I trade the 10XROI method but this can enhance ANY method you trade. It basically tells you how to anticipate the big market moves. Where to find them and how to trade them. These large moves make a lot of pips. The whole strategy is geared to low risk and high reward. Works on any time frame but is a multi time frame strategy.
Material is well presented in simple English. Very easy to understand. Plenty of chart illustrations. Is a trading strategy on its own, everything is explained.

Very valid concepts in this book. It's definitely worth the price since it is so cheap. But I would rather he charge more and spend more time on the material with more detail and more chart examples that are labeled and marked up with more detail. But - I have to admit overall it was very well done given how short the book is. He shows you how to use the monthly chart to day trade, which you might think is too high of a time frame to start with if you end up trading off of the hourly or 5 minute chart, but if you read the book it will make sense. I highly recommend this book.

Oh the fun of Q!

All right so previously I've only really read Deep Space Nine fiction. That's the series I love, has the characters I love and by in large the conflicts I care more about. I cut my teeth on The Next Generation crew however--I was a diehard Troi/Riker fan, I wanted Data to be my tutor, Geordi to be my teacher and Jean-Luc to teach me to read (and drink tea - actually his being French and being so British was really confusing to me as a kid).

That said Q, and to a degree Vash, were part of why I watched TNG. And I'll admit they did not work on DS9 - John de Lancie and Patrick Stewart had such a wonderful bantering bromance that it was almost painful to see Q try that with Sisko (Avery Brooks).

So this, which is a culmination of so many decades and movies and books worth of relationship building (world's longest courtship ever), was practically perfect. Full of Q's antics, backhanded compliments, ridiculous displays of narcissistic affection and as always he knew just how to rile Picard up. 'Cause let's face it, who would be a better Best Man then Q?

I will say that in some ways Picard and Crusher came off much more youthful seeming then I remember them being exactly (especially given the last TNG movie). Having not read the canonical book continuations, and only barely keeping abreast of their lives as part of the various serials I do follow (DS9, Titan, Corps of Engineers, Voyager...) I'm not entirely sure how much older they are vs. their last "on screen" appearance.

But oh the fun! Crusher got to show off her smarts sans all that flashy equipment the future has, Picard got to be Archeological Man, Vash got to be quipy, Q got to be (badly) flirtatious and hey no one dies in the end! What more could a person want in a bachelor's party? (Don't ask Worf, he was rather disgruntled by Picard's "passionless" ceremony to Crusher).

Though now *I* want to know more about the Treasure of the Ancients. And maybe follow Vash on her adventures. Since she seems to have so many of them (wonder what she was doing during all the recent wars/invasions/serious crises?)

Exploration not included

*some spoilers* This story is another example of a missed opportunity to take a significant, unseen event in the lives of our favorite characters, and actually make it significant. On the eve of Picard and Crusher's wedding (which the author is having the characters treat with all the pomp and circumstance of a dental appointment) Q whisks away Jean Luc for an archeological bachelor party, only Vash is along for the ride for absolutely no reason. It seems the author was trying to create a trilogy out of the previous outings with Vash (Captains Holiday and Q-pid) and this was far from the most appropriate place to shoehorn in such a tale. There is a very pedestrian adventure romp, And then Q throws Picard and Crusher a "big" wedding, only not really. My real gripe with this story is that no one learns anything, no one grows, no one is changed. Personal exploration is not included. This was a pointless outing, and at 91 pages it took me 5 sittings to get through. My agenda is always to want to like a Star Trek story, but this one was pretty disappointing, and ruined the chance to tell a beautiful story about a major development for our heroes.

A short, but satisfying and fun adventure

I would recommend this book to any STNG fan, male or female, that loved the TV series and wants to feel like they are reading a lost episode that has all the elements of adventure, fun, danger and exploration.

The author did such a nice job capturing the characters personalities that I could actually hear Q's, Picard's and Crusher's voices and see their expressions as I read.

The only negative comment I have is that this book is shorter than most.

Gary Martin has been working in comics since 1980; his credits include Wonder Woman, Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron, Ghost, Blue Devil, and many other titles. Gary is an acclaimed artist within his medium and received a Harvey award nomination for his work on the Dark Horse series Nexus, on which he collaborated with Steve Rude. In 1997, Gary authored the first volume of The Art of Comic Book Inking, which drew rave reviews both within and outside the comic-book industry and quickly became known as the definitive "How To" guide for aspiring artists.

The Bible for non-Digital Inking

Just an interesting aside: this book was recommended to me by none other than Mike Royer (one of Jack Kirby's main inker), after I sent him an e-mail suggesting that he write a book on inking.

The content has been covered by other reviewers, so I'll limit my review to the instructional value of this book. Cutting to the chase, this is an excellent book for learning how to ink traditionally, with a brush and maybe some pens.

It has two sections: theory and practice. In the theory section, you learn about light sources, line weights, contours, feathering, & cross hatching and how these combine to help emphasize characters and story.

The practice section is the second half of the book and this is a goldmine of tips from established inkers. The way the second-half of the book works is as follows: (1) a penciled drawing from an artist like John Buscema, Jack Kirby, Gil Kane, & Steve Rude is shown; (2) five or more inkers ink that page and provide commentary about the tools they used and their inking philosophy.

By flipping back and forth between the penciled drawing and the different ways of inking it (and reading the commentary!) you'll eventually learn how inking works and what a well-inked panel looks like. Maybe you won't be able to ink like the stars, but you'll at least be able to better appreciate and comment on inking.

So, why not five stars? To be a comprehensive book on inking comics, there needs to be a chapter on inking digitally or on how to adapt these "manual" techniques to "digital" tools like Photoshop or Illustrator. You can probably figure out how to do this on your own, but it would be nice to have a chapter on this.

Absolutely fantastic how-to-guide

First off, I would recommend having a basic knowledge of inking and drawing prior to picking up this book. (Knowledge of comics is helpful too!)

I am predominantly a pencil artist, however for the greater part of the past decade I have "traced" my pencils in ink. My though process did not include any way to make my illustration look better. Within the first 25 pages of this book, I had several enlightened "Why did I not think of this before!?" moments. I have read through the book a few times now and have gotten around to practicing some different styles (I might update this post later on with examples). For what it's worth, giving me a better idea how to make my illustrations better and more professional looking far exceeded the price of admission.

A few notes if you had read the other reviews... This book contains several blue-line art boards from professional artists. I would recommend taking them to a print shop and having them reprinted several times on your personal flavor of paper/board. Keep them in the book if possible, because it would ruin the binding without them. (That is my only concern with the book. I would have preferred a "folder" style, meaning the book can be removed with the pages secured on a separate spine.)

Many reviewers commented on the authors use of brushes. I use Copic technical and brush pens (Copic - Multiliner Pen Set - B2). The author is not a dinosaur by any means, but that is his preferred style of inking. A good artist learns to adapt depending on the materials and what they have to draw. Also, as the author states himself in the foreword, it "doesn't mean [he] is saying that [his style] is the only way to ink".

It should be called 'The Holy Bible of Comic Book Inking, by Gary Martin'.

Wow. What a fantastic book. I ordered this and the DC Comics Guide to inking at the same time and this one was immediately and obviously 'the one' (but get the DC guide too). Great instruction and theory. A big part of the genius of this book is the section where they have an artist draw up a tight comic book page and send a copy to 5 or 6 different inkers in the industry to ink in their own style and to add their own commentary. Amazingly informative. And THEN, when you feel confident in your learning there are those same penciled comic book pages folded on bristol board included the back of the book. If you are trying to find some good instruction on inking comics START HERE.
