About the Author
Joseph Daniels earned his Ph.D. at Indiana University and is an associate professor of economics and international business at Marquette University. Daniels, a Canadian - U.S. Fulbright Research Scholar has published articles in academic journals including the Journal of International Money and Finance, Open Economies Review, the Journal of Economics and Business, and the Review of International Economics, and in public policy publications such as Princeton Studies in International Finance, Carnegie-Rochester Series on Public Policy, and International Economic Insights. An authority on G8 policy processes, he authored The Meaning and Reliability of Economic Summit Undertakings, co-edited The G8: Its Role in the New Millennium, Guiding Global Order: G8 Governance in the Twenty-First Century, and Shaping a New International Financial System, serves as an accredited media consultant, and frequently appears in live and print media interviews during the annual economic summits. Daniels has received departmental, college, and university teaching awards at two different universities and is co-author of International Monetary and Financial Economics (Second Edition 2002) and Global Economic Issues and Policies (2003).

Concise, intuitive, and elegant

I use this book for teaching my undergraduate course in Global Finance and Investment. The presentation in this book is concise and elegant. I think it is one of the few books at undergraduate level that put much effort into providing economic intuitions of the mechanism of the international financial market. I think the effort of the authors is successful. Through series of examples, the author provide economic intuitions that sheds light on the mechanism of international financial markets. Certainly, as an introductory book at undergraduate level, the book leaves many important technical details unexplained. However, I do not perceive this as a weakness of the book, since the rigor should not be expected for an introductory book of a very sophisticated strand of economics and finance.

I use this textbook for my international finance class. It is very clearly written. One downside is that the test bank has a very small number of questions.
